CU Wire Data is owned and operated by The Credit Union Wire ("The Credit Union Wire," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you visit cuwiredata.com or use any of our services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Who we are

The Credit Union Wire is an independent media and research company covering the credit union industry. CU Wire Data is a subscription-based research and analytics platform operated by The Credit Union Wire. Our contact information is provided at the bottom of this policy.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create a subscription, we collect your name (if provided), email address, and payment information. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. — we do not receive, access, or store your full credit card number, bank account number, or other payment credentials. Stripe processes and stores that information in accordance with their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance standards.

Authentication data. We store a hashed version of your password. We cannot view or retrieve your plaintext password.

Usage data. We automatically collect standard server log information when you use the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used to maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

Cookies. CU Wire Data uses a single functional session cookie (cuwiredata_session) to authenticate your account and keep you signed in. This cookie is required for the Service to work. We do not use third-party cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. We do not participate in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising.

Information we do not collect. We do not collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, health information, or information about children under 16.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Third-party service providers

We share limited personal information with the following service providers, who process it on our behalf and are contractually obligated to use it only for the purposes we specify:

We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Credit union data

All credit union financial data displayed in CU Wire Data is derived from publicly available federal government sources, including quarterly 5300 Call Reports, branch office records, merger filings, and CUSO registries. This data pertains to the financial condition of federally insured credit union institutions — it does not contain personal information about individual credit union members, their accounts, or their transactions.

Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward to fulfill legal, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations. Specifically:

Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS), hashed passwords, secure session tokens, private caching on authenticated endpoints, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you reside, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. We honor these rights regardless of your location to the extent practicable:

All users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information at any time by emailing us at the address below.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (1) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you; (2) request deletion of your personal information; (3) correct inaccurate personal information; (4) opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA); and (5) not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We will verify your identity before processing your request. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other state residents. If you reside in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain data processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Do Not Track

CU Wire Data does not track users across third-party websites and does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals, because we do not engage in the type of tracking that DNT is designed to prevent.

International users

CU Wire Data is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

Children's privacy

CU Wire Data is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (at the address associated with your account) or by posting a prominent notice on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
